Lamar Odom was a fan favorite on Dancing With the Stars due to his sweet attitude and difficult backstory. Unfortunately, he was eliminated earlier this week from the competition but revealed his plans going forward.

As you probably have already heard, the former NBA baller has a book that made the New York Times best selling list. In it, he documents time from his early life to recovering from a nearly fatal overdose.

Since the book has been released, Lamar has been busy doing press, prepping for the Big 3 league (that he was later dropped from), and rehearsing for DWTS — giving him no time to enjoy his newfound success as an author while enjoying being a father.

While speaking about his departure, Odom told reporters: ‘[I’d like to] go celebrate my book, a New York Times bestseller. Focus on my children. Maybe [take] a vacation.’

Although he is working on regaining all his athletic ability back, he probably won’t be returning to the NBA.

‘I have some free time on my hands, so maybe I can focus on my public speaking. Change some lives with my story.’

Lamar was extremely likable, but it doesn’t come as a surprise that he was given the boot. His dancing partner recently opened up about what it was like having to teach him routines.

‘Our salsa started great! He was smiling with energy and doing the right moves. About halfway through though, his memory loss kicked in and he lost his patterns of choreography.  He forgot 1/3 of steps throughout the dance. I don’t think people really understand when he says he has a “memory problem.” The guy was in a coma and had 12 heart attacks and six strokes.  He shouldn’t be living, but by a miracle he is.  His memory is the biggest issue we face, not the height. His cognitive ability is slow and it has definitely affected us. Lamar gave me the okay to talk about it openly so I wanted to give you a little insight,’ Peta Murgatroyd explained.
